When the Tampa Police Department found a quivering chihuahua in a parking lot on Columbus near I-4, hearts all over social media shattered. His owner’s heart was shattered, too — he had been evacuated and fled to Tampa, and his pup — undoubtedly confused and scared in a new place with a horrible storm — escaped and faced Irma, outside and alone. The Humane Society of Tampa Bay took the pup in and managed to reunite him — his real name is Trouble — with his family. Well done, Humane Society (and Tampa PD!), for making us cry and then making us smile. —CS
Local business is good business.
Who would’ve known that we’d spend our mid-30s (and beyond) collecting buttons and pins for our lapels and guitar straps? Thanks to the comic book-inspired selection at Tampa’s Bronze Age Buttons and veteran local comics artist/musician Josh Sullivan’s wide variety of enamel pins both cute and snide, getting older (and throwing around our disposable income) never felt — or looked — so cool. —Ray Roa/Scott Harrell
