Best docu-drama: CHARLES LINDBERGH: A LIFE IN FLIGHT

Best docu-drama

Culling the public record for everything Lindbergh, canny writer/director James Rayfield found the way to show us Lucky Lindy at three key moments: when he made the first solo airflight across the Atlantic, when his baby was kidnapped and ultimately killed, and when he became a barnstorming America First isolationist and bigot. Acting the part of Lindbergh in this one-man show, Chris Jackson was spectacular; he showed us all the different Lindberghs, and garnered our sympathy and outrage as he changed from hero to villain. Monologues are tough, but Rayfield and Jackson made this one — performed at Tampa Fringe and [email protected] — a winner. —ML
