Best free musical history: ROCK THE RIVERWALK AT STRAZ CENTER

Tampa’s music scene history is rich, and it’s quite often overlooked. Tampa Riverwalk-ers might’ve missed this free history exhibit had they been up their own asses, but anyone who spent time with the more than two dozen panels curated by former Tampa Tribune pop music critic Curtis Ross — and pieced together with help from Maggie DiPietra, Zachary Hines and former Trib classical music critic Kurt Loft — learned a lot about the last 30 years of rap, blues, rock, jazz, punk, pop, country, rock and electronic music made right here before being exported to ears around the world. “Some of them may not have been hugely successful, a lot of the artists represented toured nationally or internationally, made network TV appearances or released records on a major label,” Ross told CL. —RR
