Best There’ll Never Be Another One Like You Again: CARLA LEWIS

In short, Carla Lewis was an anomaly. The Port Tampa-born ball of energy was the longtime neighborhood liaison for the city of Tampa. The 56-year-old, who died of cancer in July, served all Tampanians — including many of our city’s most overlooked — with an unrivaled fervor, and she did it with a smile that lit up my life for the 12 weeks that I participated in the Mayor’s Neighborhood University program she spearheaded. She brightened up Christmases for more than 800 Sulphur Springs kids as part of a holiday gift drive she did when she wasn’t on the clock and will always be an inspiration for anyone who strives to make a difference in their community. —RR
