Best takedown of cops targeting children suspected of future crime: Neil Bedi and Kathleen Mcgrory

Neil Bedi and Kathleen Mcgrory

Last year, Tampa Bay Times staffers Kathleen McGrory and Neil Bedi (the latter of whom now reports for ProPublica, go Neil!) penned a Pulitzer-winning investigation that exposed the Pasco County Sheriff Office’s practice of targeting people, including children, that they believed could “fall into a life of crime.” In April of this year, the U.S. Department of Education actually opened an investigation into Pasco County schools sharing information about students with the PSCO. The piece also prompted the formation of the People Against the Surveillance of Children and Overpolicing (PASCO) Coalition, which is organizing to end Pasco County’s predictive policing program. Thanks for keeping us informed, Kathleen and Neil.
