With a cold front upon us, now is the prime time to frequent Tampa Bay's rooftop bars. A new (and Tampa Bay's tallest) rooftop bar, Rox, has quietly emerged within Current Hotel which launched in August located at 2545 N. Rocky Point Dr. in Tampa.
You don't need to be a guest to slide through and drink in the 360-degree views at Rox. The bar is also equipped with indoor and outdoor seating, which is ideal for unpredictable Florida weather.
The rooftop bar's cocktail program and wine list are curated by the owners of Lucky Elephant Winery – Milbert "Cha" Roman and Kim Baily, who wanted to highlight the best details of Tampa from the rich history of the prohibition era to the mix of cultures and bustling nightlife. Offering up over 30 years of experience in the hospitality and F&B industry, the duo has created a menu to bring their vision to life.
One of the concoctions is the Mexican Coffee cocktail crafted with freshly brewed coffee, house-made coconut foam, and a local Mole spice mix as an ode to Ybor City's addiction to Cuban coffee. No Bad Juju cocktail is another hat tip to Tampa's rich Cuban culture by burning sage to cleanse any bad energy from guests while they sip. Talk about all-inclusive.
Rox also open serves up classics like Old Fashioneds and going the extra mile to create a cocktail based on its customer's liking. "We want the bar to be approachable for everyone, we have educated bartenders who will create a drink based on the spirit you like," Roman tells CL.
As of right now, Rox offers tapas but is releasing a food new menu this month, which has been created to compliment the lineup on cocktails. More details to come on the new food items when the official menu drops. Rox opens at 5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday with flexible closing hours.
