Beer event this weekend : Dunedin House of Beer Grand Opening celebration

Dunedin House of Beer showcases 40 regularly rotating taps and 100 or so bottles. This diminutive beer joint displays impressive style variety and rare snobby brews like Ommegang Rouge and Gouden Carolus as well as Jai Alai IPA and Maduro Oatmeal Brown Ale, the flagship brands from Tampa's own Cigar City Brewing. In addition to indoor bar and table seating, there are front and back dog-friendly patios. Bottled beer is available to go, as well as quart and gallon sized growlers, which is a beer geek word for a jug used to hold draught beer so that it can be enjoyed at home. Yes, it is finally possible to enjoy beer fresh from the tap while wearing pajamas and without having to worry about who's driving when the drinking is done. If this sounds appealing, growlers can also be obtained locally at Dunedin Brewery and Cigar City Brewing.

Dunedin House of Beer opens at 4pm Monday through Thursday - it's one of the few places in Dunedin open on Monday. Friday through Sunday, doors open at 2pm. Reduced price happy hours run from 4-7pm Monday through Friday and from 2-4pm on Saturday and Sunday. 927 Broadway, Dunedin. (727)-216-6318

House of Beer, Dunedin's newest beer bar reaches out to brew fanatics by hosting a Grand Opening shindig that lasts all weekend. Starting Friday, the event will feature special drink prices that continue through the weekend, a ribbon cutting ceremony with Dunedin mayor Dave Eggers Saturday at 6:30pm, followed by a mayoral guest bartending stint. All tips received by Mayor Eggers will be donated to local charities Dunedin Doggie Rescue and Raising Hope.
