In case you missed it, Tampa Bay Brew Bus unveiled a project it's been working on for months last week.
The company, owned by Anthony Derby, is morphing the former home of Florida Avenue Brewing Co., one of Tampa's first craft breweries, into its own brewing facility, tasting room and departure location for tours.
The Seminole Heights building at 4101 N. Florida Ave. is now closed for renovations, but Brew Bus, whose offerings are brewed at Lakeland's Brew Hub, plans to expand its beer styles, as well as keep Florida Ave. brews in production. They'll be on hand at local businesses, too, according to a blog post on the Brew Bus website.
"Some recipes may change but the integrity and authenticity of the brand will remain," the post reads.
The tasting room is slated to debut in early 2016, and during the renovation period, Brew Bus tours will kick off and conclude at the new location.
Not long before the Brew Bus news, Three Palms Brewing unexpectedly closed its doors at 1509 Hobbs St. Danelle and Randy Reaver's 3-year-old Tampa brewery announced the closing in an email to bottle club members.
"It breaks my heart to bring you this very unfortunate and sad news, but due to various circumstances, we had to close Three Palms Brewing effective immediately," the email said. "We have made so many great friends over the past years, with majority of you on this very list! It has been an honor to serve you, as well as seeing you enjoy our beers over the past years."
