Capcanes 2004 Mas Donis Montsant wine

[image-1]A blend of grenache and syrah, whose gnarled old vines dot the rolling hills of eastern Spain, the 2004 Capcanes is a big, Old World-type wine bursting with ripe black cherry and earthy mushrooms flaked  with dirt. Medium sweet tannins and kinda chewy. But the best thing... it costs $15, locally available at Total Wine and More.

Cool story about this winery

From the dry, crusty-looking Montsant region south of Barcelona comes a shockingly good, shockingly inexpensive red blend. Monsant surrounds the Priorat region like a pita sandwich, wrapping snuggly around an area known for its hefty wines and corresponding prices. I can't afford Priorat so Monsant it is.
