It is beginning to feel like Tampa Bay is crumbling under the weight of coronavirus fears, and you can add Cigar City Brewing Hunahpu's Day 2020 to the list of Tampa Bay events affected by the global novel coronavirus pandemic.
On Thursday afternoon, organizers officially canceled Hunahpu's Day 2020 scheduled for Friday, March 13 at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
The news comes just hours after the NHL and Tampa Bay Lightning—which plays its games in the arena—put their season on hold.
According to a statement from Cigar City, fans have two options for refunds:
- A $100 refund that allows them to pick up their 2020 Hunahpu bottles (bottles are secure, and pick up has been extended through June 30)
- In lieu of the $100 refund, a ticket to next year’s festival in addition to four bottle of 2021 Hunahpu’s imperial stout (a $200 value, according to the statement)
The refund policy for Hunahpu’s Day 2020 says that in the event of “an unforeseen circumstance and Cigar City Brewing is forced to cancel and the event cannot be rescheduled, the festival portion of the ticket will be refunded. $100 of the ticket price allocated to the festival the remainder covers the bottles.”
"We are disappointed that we will not be able to celebrate with some of our biggest fans and fellow brewers as we have done for the past ten years,” the statement said, adding that the heartbreaking decision to cancel is “the most responsible action to take for our local customers, our employees, the craft community in addition to the great City of Tampa.”
