Everyone’s talking about the Rays making the major league playoffs, but we won’t wait for the results of a one-game wild-card playoff happening on Wednesday in Oakland before making plans to be at Spectrum Field when the home of the minor league Clearwater Threshers hosts the 11th Annual Hops for Hospice Beer Festival benefiting Empath Health and the Suncoast Hospice Foundation.

Attendees can slurp from their commemorative mini beer bugs and taste 100 different beers by local and national breweries while the Tiki Pavilion shows all the college football games. There’s a closest-to-the-pin golf competition on the field, and a silent auction is set to raise funds, too. Leave the kids at home, however, because this is a 21 & up event.

Sat. Oct. 5, 4 -p.m.-8 p.m. Spectrum Field, 601 N. Old Coachman Rd., Clearwater. hopsforhospice.com
