Contrary to popular belief, October isn't just about celebrating Halloween and those sugary trick-or-treat candies. It also happens to be cause for exalting all forms of sweet treats as October is National Dessert Month.
Dessert-inspired cocktails are a current craze in the cocktail scene and what better reason to whip up some liquid confections than to celebrate this sacchariferous occasion? Check out the recipes below to be on your way to sipping your sweets.
Iced Chocolate Cake
1 oz. Frangelico hazelnut liqueur
1oz SKYY Infusions Citrus Vodka
Lemon slice
Sugar (for rim)
Combine in a short rocks glass with sugared rim. Squeeze lemon slice in it and use as garnish.
French Coffee Cake
2 oz. CAMUS VSOP Elegance cognac
1 oz. Irish cream liqueur
Pour directly into glass filled with rocks.
Standard Strawberry Shortcake
1.5 oz Russian Standard Vodka
4-6 strawberries
Juice of half a lime
3 tsp. sugar
Crushed ice
In a tumbler, muddle the lime juice, sugar and strawberries to create a paste. Top the glass up with crushed ice. Add vodka and stir well. Top with extra crushed ice and garnish with a sliced strawberry.
