A new hangout spot is about to launch in Largo, and it’s one of the most unique late night experiences in Pinellas County.

Located at 1750 Lake Ave. SE in Largo, DK Farms typically hosts kid’s birthday parties and goat yoga. But starting this weekend, it’s launching a new late-night “Goats, Golf & Good Times” event—chock full of beer and wine, bar-friendly eats from its new food truck, mini golf, a mechanical bull and tons of friendly farm animals.

Owner David Koning tells Creative Loafing Tampa Bay that these new Saturday night events are an attempt to draw a crowd that’s a bit older than the children that frequent the farm for its petting zoo .

"Up until now we've kind of been a kid-oriented business, so we're opening our beautiful space up to a demographic that we haven't really served before," Koning says. “We want out first nighttime guests to feel like they're part of something new...there's really nothing else like it in the county."

Guests will pay $13.95 to have full access to the farm and its amenities, in addition to whatever food and drink they'd like to purchase. While this Saturday night event—which runs from 5 p.m.-10 p.m. each week—is aimed towards adults, parents are welcome to bring their kids as well.

Koning emphasizes that DK Farms’ Goats, Golf & Good Times event will remain in its soft opening phase throughout the summer and that there will be a grand opening party in September. He welcomes guests to give feedback on their initial experiences to help his team curate their nighttime events to the best of their ability.

Starting this Saturday, June 3, DK Farms will offer a variety of local wines, beers and sangrias, plus small plates like nachos, mozzarella sticks, fries, chili and what Koning thinks is going to be the biggest hit—goat-shaped soft pretzels.

When fall comes around, DK's food truck will also dish out apple cider doughnuts for dessert.

By September, the Largo-based farm will also offer brand new bathrooms (instead of port-o-potties,) a greenhouse filled with plants that will serve as a literal “beer garden,” as well as another building for storage and food preparation. In a few months, its nighttime events will also be expanded to Friday nights, too.

Although farm renovations are scheduled to take place within the next few months, folks can still enjoy their libations while hanging out with the farm's various goats, chickens, rabbits, donkeys, ponies and a resident tortoise.

DK Farms debuted in Largo about five years ago and has been the go-to spot in mid-Pinellas for kid's birthday parties, field trips, and other special events. It was even the host of the first annual Pinellas Medieval Fair earlier this year.

Its petting zoo will remain open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. every day.  Subscribe to Creative Loafing newsletters.
