South Tampa's Datz is inviting food enthusiasts to step off the scale on Thursday, proclaiming Jan. 28, which is also the restaurant's anniversary, to be National Cheat Day.
Like other food holidays that came before it, Datz's Cheat Day, whose mascot is the Cheesy Todd burger, is meant to be celebrated anywhere, including social media. Dreamy photos taken throughout the holiday will be archived under the #NationalCheatDay hashtag on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Locals who want to indulge with Datz in person will be treated to free mini Bloody Marys and Valentine's Day cocktails, plus samples of mac and the new Tempura Reuben Roll. The restaurant's next-door sibling, Dough, will also offer a complimentary scoop of house-made ice cream.
