Do This: Say sayonara to Renny's Oki Doki

Tampa-based Renny's Oki Doki food truck set to celebrate its retirement.

Sayonara Celebration

4500 N. Nebraska Ave., Tampa. Free, money for food and beer. Aug. 5, 5-10 p.m.

Get a taste of Renny's Oki Doki's "Okinawan feel good food" one last time Friday night.

Cooking up specialties from Okinawa, the Japanese island where he grew up, Renny Braga's dream-turned-reality restaurant-on-wheels opened in 2012. In early July, the Tampa-based food truck announced on Facebook that it would retire at the end of the month and now it's time to celebrate.

The Sayonara Celebration for Renny's, hosted at Southern Brewing & Winemaking in Seminole Heights, will feature raffles, giveaways and Southern Brewing craft beer. Plus, some favorites on the food menu: Ma-san soba (Okinawan soba noodles, pork broth, pork belly, scallions, red ginger, Japanese red pepper), katsu chicken, tofu katsu, Seoul food bowl (chicken, Korean red pepper paste, onions, cabbage salad, jasmine rice, kimchi salsa, "habu" sauce) and spam musubi bowl included.

Through its new food truck promotion program, Southern Brewing will also allow guests to earn "truck bucks" during the celebration.
