First Look: Origami Sushi's new location in Tampa

the Yellowstone: an egg, crab, cucumber and avocado roll with a crunchy, slightly sweet shrimp “salad” on top.  The Crazy Horse is also excellent: a Mexican roll with “crunch” and spicy mayo on top.  There is a Happy Hour menu offered from 3 pm – 7pm on weekdays with about 10 items discounted, including Gyoza.


The décor is modern with some kitschy elements like the ceramic flower arrangements and jade statues.  A long sushi bar has the requisite flat-screens behind it and friendly sushi chefs preparing your items.  I spied a semi-private room in the back which may accommodate groups, but I have yet to see it used.  Definitely more spacious than the Hillsborough Avenue location but with the same great sushi.

I was introduced to Origami’s Hillsborough Avenue location about a year ago.  They have a new location on Waters Avenue and a recent move to a new residence put me dangerously close to this location.
