Port Richey welcomed Spice Asian Fusion, a new Vietnamese restaurant, not too long ago. With a stylish bar and white tablecloths, there's an elegant feel to the space at 5811 Richey Drive.
The restaurant, which held its soft opening back in November, features a sushi bar, headed by chef Jimmy Kubota, seafood and Black Angus steaks, as well as other items like pho, broken rice dishes and create-your-own spring rolls.
• BackDraughts, the stationary concept from Blazin 28 food truck owner Dillon Walts, is getting closer to launching at 101 E. Tarpon Ave. The Tarpon Springs restaurant plans to offer up "wood-fired pizza done the right way," plus craft brews, wine and live entertainment.
• The test kitchen food photos from the soon-to-open O Cocina are dreamy-looking enough to make Facebook visitors' mouths water (keep 'em coming). The restaurant's sophisticated Mexican fare, billed as farm-to-table and "accompanied by a refined and upbeat surrounding," is set to debut soon in Tampa's Palma Ceia neighborhood at 4110 Henderson Blvd.
• Another Mexican newcomer has opened in Land O' Lakes. At 7804 Land O' Lakes Blvd., San José Mexican Restaurant is serving up a well-rounded menu, ranging from steak ranchero and 10 burrito options to potato taquitos and pollo fundido (grilled chicken smothered in cheese sauce).
Tuesdays and Wednesdays mean $1 tacos, while happy hour drinks are highlighted 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
• Dunedin's Broadway Deli Cafe has transformed into the Downtown Dunedin Deli & Grill at 730 Broadway. Now under different ownership, the deli's grand reopening took place Jan. 15 and featured a new menu.
The bill of fare, which categories most of the dishes by the state they're influenced by ("California: Huevos Rancheros; North Carolina: Pulled Pork"), still carries several Broadway breakfast and lunch items. Patrons will also find fresh offerings like the Muffuletta Burger, and beer and wine are on hand as well.
