Won’t be much longer until Flower Crown Kombucha breathes new life into the former home of Foundation Coffee Co. at 1607 N. Franklin St. in Tampa Heights. The storefront has laid vacant since the coffee shop’s untimely closure in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, Foundation Coffee Co. has taken over The Bunker’s former space at 1907 N. 19th St. in Ybor City.

Flower Crown—which city records show being owned by Bryan Griffin—bills itself as Tampa’s first and only kombucha taproom brewery, and the doors are projected to open in early 2021. While the domain for flowercrownkombucha.com has been claimed, the site has yet to be launched, so little information has been publicly shared other than a couple of photos of renovations on social media (pictured above).

Griffin told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay that he, along with other owners of Flower Crown, hopes to hop on a call to share more details later this week.

More to come as Flower Crown continues making renovations, creating its personalized ambiance for future guests. We’ll be on standby to see if the concept offers up an equally Instagram-able atmosphere as its former tenant.

Until the doors open and the kombucha is flowing, you can visit fellow Tampa Heights newbies Magnanimous Brewing (which also houses Ginger Beard Coffee no. 2), and fresh Armature Works stalls Muchachas and Bake’n Babes. Make sure to have a mask handy while exploring, people.
