Sea Dog Brew Pub patrons can now visit by car or boat. Following the completion of dock construction, the Treasure Island brewpub's newest addition, six boat slips, have opened. Five more are expected to debut at a later date over the summer.
In total, two docks are planned for Sea Dog: one on the north side of the Blind Pass Bridge, along the seawall, and another on the bridge's south side. Largo's Midcoast Marine Group and Tampa's G&M Contracting, Inc. — contracted to build the docks — are ahead of schedule.
Guests who arrive after cruising on the water aren't limited to a cold pint at the bar, either. The brewpub also plans to sell beer, ice and bait to boaters.
"This will truly be the place to be," said general manager Charles Breakiron in a statement, "whether you come by car, boat, or tread in straight off the beach!"
Like the outdoor tiki bar, boat slips were announced early on as phase two of the Sea Dog property. That tiki bar — plus a small stage for live entertainment on weekends — remain forthcoming, and "there's still a hurdle to overcome" with the docks, according to owner Fred Forsley.
"Sea Dog Brew Pub is in works for permitting to construct a walkway that will connect the two docks beneath the Blind Pass Bridge," Forsley said.
