On Monday, September 30, Hooters Management Corporation presented a donation for $45,955 to Moffitt Cancer Center

The hefty check was made up of $35,955 raised from the restaurant’s 2018 “Give a Hoot” program and a grant awarded through the V Foundation for Cancer Research, with an additional $10,000 forked out by the Hooters Management team.

“This gift will propel the cutting-edge work our researchers and clinicians are doing every day to advance patient care and cancer research. We are incredibly grateful to Hooters and the V Foundation for supporting Moffitt so generously,” said Maria Muller, President of the Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation in a recent statement.

The “Give a Hoot” campaign was founded in honor of Kelly Jo Dowd, a former Hooters Calendar Cover Girl turned general manager of the Palm Harbor location who lost the battle to breast cancer in 2007. Fundraisers are held annually at Hooters locations across the nation, and Hooters donates a percentage of sales from specific drinks, the change from guests rounding up their checks, and every Hooters calendar sold.

The breastaurant  has raised over $5.8 million through the years.

The 2019 “Give a Hoot” campaign launches Tuesday, October 1, and all restaurant locations have a goal of raising $1 million nationwide.
