Yesterday, Pia’s Trattoria in Gulfport gave out a total of 126 pasta meals to seniors who are alone because of the social distancing measure put in place amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The restaurant took to its Facebook page, asking the community if anyone in need would like a free curbside meal, and the response was, well, overwhelming.
Now, the restaurant is doing it again, but would like to remind everyone that they need to focus on seniors that do not have the “resources or capability to provide for themselves at this time... This showed us that there is definitely a need for assistance in our community.”
Pia’s also reminded customers that its full menu is still available for takeout, and now would be a great time to check on your neighbors, relatives, and friends, and surprise them with a hot meal.
“If everyone could help just one person our community will get through this,” added Pia’s.
If you, or someone you know, is in need of meal assistance, you can call Pia’s at 727-327-2190 and leave your name for a car or in-person pickup.
