Another Tampa Bay Beer Week event has been canceled due to coronavirus, and we’re feeling for the staff at Green Bench Brewing Co.

On Friday afternoon, and after careful consideration with city officials, St. Petersburg’s Green Bench Brewing Co. announced a cancellation of Saturday’s 7th annual Foeder for Thought.

The news comes a day after Cigar City Brewing canceled Hunahpu's Day 2020 and follows Green Bench’s initial decision to go forward with the event considering its open-air nature.

Green Bench’s 7th annual Foeder for Thought was set to host industry panel discussions hosted by Michael Kiser of Good Beer Hunting, who pulled out of the event on Thursday.

"At this point in time, everything is out of our hands, and we have to follow the guidelines being presented to all of us," Green Bench wrote in a statement. "While we have to cancel for now, we hope to be able to take this time to create something even bigger for the following year. This feels a bit surreal to write, and we’re just so sorry we have to make this call."

The statement says that full refunds will be issued but asks for patience from ticket buyers since refunds could take five to seven business days to process.

Green Bench's tasting room, beer garden and Webb’s City Cellar will still be open to the public and adhering to new enhanced cleanliness measures.
