The Green Iguana Bar & Grill took home the title of Best Burger in the Bay, as well as bragging rights, during Friday night’s Third Annual Burger Showdown under Gasparilla Plaza.

The patties Green Iguana and other local restaurants served up were judged by a panel of culinary and celebrity judges, including chef Erik Youngs of Chamberlain High School’s Culinary Operations Academy and Tampa Tribune columnist Steve Otto.

Danny’s All American Diner took home the People’s Choice for a second year in a row, while Eats American Grill won the category for Best Use of Bacon. Judges dubbed James Joyce Irish Pub the winner of the Bring the Heat award.

Chefs from Ferg’s and Me and My Grillfriend also participated in the competition. The showdown benefited the Culinary Operations Academy.
