Gulfport Neighbors has a nifty way for you to donate canned goods this month

Locals who get involved can participate until Dec. 24 or 31.

Gulfport Neighbors is urging residents to donate canned goods for the holidays — in a nifty way. The community organization has suggested the creation of reverse advent calendar-style "gifting boxes," and they're meant to be filled with a different food item throughout the month.

Dec. 14, for example, calls for a box of crackers, while packaged rice is requested Dec. 15. Check out the full list of desired donations above.

Locals who get involved can opt to participate now until Dec. 24 or 31. At the end of their chosen time frames, they're asked to take their nonperishable stockpiles to the Gulfport Public Library or fire station.

Volunteers from Gulfport Neighbors, which aims to "inspire, motivate and unite" to "improve the quality of life in Gulfport," will then retrieve the boxes and deliver them to the town's trio of Little Food Pantries.

Sounds easy enough.
