It's a bird... it's a plane... well, no (AND you're thinking of the wrong superhero). That's the Wonder Woman-themed burger Datz is teasing food and DC Comics fans with — in Tampa Bay and beyond — ahead of the new Wonder Woman film debuting next month.
Available starting June 2 for a limited time, the toweringly tall burger, known as the Amazon Warrior, is the latest over-the-top creation to rise from the South Tampa dining spot's experimental kitchen. Locals are familiar with Datz's fun-loving restaurant antics and viral-worthy menu items (the Cheesy Todd and doughnut ice cream cones come to mind), and its new Amazon Warrior Burger has been featured by Food & Wine, Grub Street and Delish over the past couple days.
But what's between those sourdough buns, two of which, as you can see, are dyed red and blue?
The three-tiered burger features lettuce, tomato, pickle, red onions and some sliced pineapple for good measure (or conversation-starting outrage, depending on your personal taste). Executive chef Joseph Rivera and his crew cut stars out of Cheddar and American cheeses that, in addition to the patriotic buns, speak to the founding member of the Justice League's original costume. And the ground beef patties can be swapped for black bean versions, making this pretty-intimidating-yet-surprisingly-put-together offering (shout out to that skewer) called a burger suitable for even the hungriest vegetarians.
Now, how does one attempt to eat this thing?
