So, Walmart — yes, Walmart — is calling its new fusion food, the Crotilla, your "Bakery BFF," which stands for "Best Flatbread 4Evr," of course. Available nationwide in 832 stores and pronounced crow-TEE-ah, the bakery department creation is a mashup of a flaky croissant and a flour tortilla, and arguably the most unnecessary edible hybrid yet.

But apparently, Walmart — Walmart — wants to be recognized as the place for all the hip stuff the kids are eating.

"We wanted to invent something innovative and exclusive to Walmart… we know customers, especially millennial customers, are hungry for new food trends and cool ways to experience food, and we want to be a destination for that," said Bradlee Underwood, senior buyer for Walmart Bakery, in an interview posted to the retail behemoth's blog.

The toaster-size flatbread is supposed to be good for breakfast sandwiches, Indian food, mini pizzas and everything in between.

As one of my CL colleagues put it: "I'm not saying I wouldn't try it. Just for the experience."
