Inspired by Esquire Network’s Knife Fight, St. Petersburg eatery Il Ritorno has been putting its own spin on the concept with a “Midnight Chef Fight” series in which chefs from the Bay area’s best restaurants square off in the hopes of raising funds for the Apple A Day Foundation, whose mission is to keep kids socially connected to friends and family during treatment and long hospital stays.
The fourth battle in the series happens when Il Ritorno re-opens after regular dinner service. It features Noble Crust’s Rob Reinsmith and Brick & Mortar’s Jason Ruhe taking an hour to create two dishes that include at least one of two secret ingredients selected beforehand and revealed that night. Chef Jeff Philbin hosts while David Benstock and Chris Fernandez judge. It’s $20 at the door, so make sure you get cut early.
Sat., Aug. 10. 11 p.m. $20. Il Ritorno, 49 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. 11 p.m. INFO.
