They can run a baseball team, but can they cook and mix cocktails? Tampa Bay Rays coach Joe Maddon will play guest chef and some of his pals will be mixing the drinks this Thursday night at 717 South.
While Maddon is in the back of the house whipping up his family recipes from his annual Thanksmas event menu: spaghetti and meatballs, sausage and pierogies, his coaching staff members Tom Foley, Jim Hickey and Derek Shelton, their senior adviser Don Zimmer, and Rays TV personality Todd Kalas will be manning the bar. All tips that the guest bartenders receive will go toward helping Tampa Bay's homeless.
