Local diners looking forward to the Tampa opening of Rocco's Tacos & Tequila Bar can curb their cravings with a little something from their nearest Publix. The South Florida restaurant brand's signature spice blend, Rocco's Spice, hits the Lakeland-based supermarket giant's 1,146 stores on Friday in 3.7-ounce bottles.
No, it's not after-work tacos at International Plaza, but it'll do until Rocco's debuts in late 2017.
Available in the spice aisle, the $5.99 blend, used for the restaurant's chips and famous tableside guac, mixes 36 ingredients, including paprika, salt, cumin and cinnamon. Home cooks are encouraged to add the spice to chicken, shrimp, pork and veggie dishes, as well as cocktails.
"Since we developed the spice recipe for our guac and chips we have received hundreds of requests for the ingredients," said Rocco's founder Rocco Mangel in a statement. "People can't get enough of the flavor combination, and now we're excited to offer Rocco's Spice at all Publix Super Market locations."
