Lutz's Lake Chapman Market is the latest addition to the still-growing lot of community markets around the region.
Part of the Lake Chapman Plaza, the newcomer at 16347 N. Florida Ave. — a location that's been lacking a regular market presence — takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, but plans to become bi-weekly starting March 6, when it will begin operating from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays.
Vendor recruitment kicked off back in November (and applications are still being accepted), but it didn't take long for pop-up editions of Lake Chapman Market to follow. Giving residents in the area a little taste of what's to come, the pop-ups are scheduled to come to an end later this month, making way for the market's grand opening on Feb. 24.
The celebration will feature live music, a bounce house for kids, and free tastings of beer and wine (sangria included) — thanks to Quality Foods, a one-stop shop for gourmet goods that's also opening soon at Lake Chapman Plaza, and nearby Cuban restaurant La Yuma.
For those who haven't attended, Lake Chapman Market promises a commitment to local farmers and artisans, offering edible wares like produce, gulf seafood, meat and poultry, desserts, bread, and other small-batch foods. Past vendors have included Peach Pit Farms, The Tea Jug and Baking Between the Lines.
There's also an assortment of handmade candles, soaps, beauty products, woodwork and jewelry available for purchase.
