New beer from Coppertail Brewing Co. and the Florida Aquarium raises funds for endangered wildlife

A portion of proceeds will go toward efforts to save the endangered African Penguin.

The Florida Aquarium is teaming up yet again with Coppertail Brewing Co. to create a brew to help save endangered wildlife.

The duo has created two other brews, the first of which being the Coral Haze IPA in August 2018 for coral conservation and research, followed by the Sand Tiger Stout brewed up earlier this year with a portion of proceeds donated toward the Aquarium’s sand tiger research and conservation efforts. 

On Friday, October 11, the Coppertail team will drop the latest creation in the collaboration, the Best Dressed Bird Blonde Ale, which aims to raise funds for and bring awareness to the endangered African Penguin; Senior Biologist at the Florida Aquarium Michelle Uhlig explains that the species is threatened by habitat destruction, overfishing, and oil spills. 

The new ale is described as a light-bodied beer with a clean finish.

“We are so excited once again to partner with The Florida Aquarium to help support their tremendous commitment to our environment and the amazing wildlife found throughout the waters of the world,” shared Kent Bailey, president and co-founder of Coppertail Brewing Co. in a statement.

Want in on the cause? The Best Dressed Bird Blonde Ale is bring poured at Coppertail Brewing Co. in Ybor City as well as the Aquarium. One dollar from every pint sold will be donated to the Aquarium’s mission to save these tuxedo-wearing creatures.  

If you’re headed to the 11th Annual Brews by the Bay event at the Florida Aquarium next weekend, you’ll be able to get the first taste. 

But, if you can stand the wait, head to Coppertail Brewing Co. on Saturday, October 12 for a mini launch party. Attendees can get up close and personal with African Penguins while sipping on the new Best Dressed Bird Blonde Ale. That's right, you'll actually get to meet the birds from the beer you'll be getting tipsy on. The launch party will be held from 1-3 p.m., get their early to get a spot at the front of the line to meet one of these creatures. Coppertail Brewing Co. is located at 2601 E. 2nd Ave. in Ybor City.
