Tampa’s Seminole Heights neighborhood is getting a new brewery called Common Dialect Beerworks.

That’s the moniker owners Kendra and Mike Conze have settled on for the brewery attached to the future location of their pet boutique Health Mutt at 5023 N Florida Ave., just across the street from Independent Bar & Cafe.

“We got through the first reading for wet zoning but final approval will be later this month,” Kendra told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay. “We got approved for our design through the Architectural Review Committee as well.”

While waiting on the logistics, the Conzes are moving forward with other aspects of opening a business, while keeping the community involved “...we are talking with artists and designers to make the place look really cool and be as functional as possible,” Kendra said.

Plans uploaded to the City of Tampa’s permitting portal on March 29 show the entrance to Common Dialect’s brewery facing Florida Avenue, with the microbrewery behind it. A patio is planned for the south side of the building, with a nook carved out for a food truck

And like any good local brewery, there will be collaborations. “We are also working on our logo and are planning collabs soon with other breweries,” Kendra said.

Mike—a six-year vet of Brew Hub—previously told CL that the 10-barrel facility would eventually become home to a core lineup of beers, plus foeder-aged mixed fermentation offerings, but anticipated Common Dialect to lean on “pilsners, maybe something barrel-aged, plus some double IPAs and IPAs” as it gets off the ground.

But beer won’t be the only option on the brewery side of things, coffee will be served in the morning hours.

The new Health Mutt will be 4,500-square-feet, a little over 1,000-square-feet larger than the current location which has been at the corner of Hannah and Central Avenues for the last decade.
