Won't be much longer until Madeira Beach welcomes a new taphouse offering up sunset views and entertainment. Lucky Lizard is laying roots at 14963 Gulf Blvd. in good company with nearby Dockside Dave's and Bula on The Beach.
Creative Loafing Tampa Bay connected with Lucky Lizard’s owner, Karla Penner, to get some background info on the forthcoming beach bar and her itch to make her mark on the sand.
A transplant from Colorado, Penner recently relocated to Florida in search of salt air, white sand and sunsets.
“I found it ALL here in this beachy laid back community of Madeira Beach,” Penner shared in an email. Penner wanted to share her passion for craft beer and wines in Madeira Beach by creating a taphouse.
When it comes to vibes, Penner is shooting for relaxing beach chic. The Lizard is set to offer both indoor and outdoor seating, featuring two large outdoor seating bars with views of the sunset. The bar owner is in the works of linking up with local musical talent to provide live tunes for guests.
When it comes to pints, Penner wants to showcase breweries near and far from her 30 flowing taps. The bar will also be cracking cans and bottles of brews while also pouring up a variety of vinos.
For food, LL plans to cook up toasted sandos, paninis, tacos, as well as a variety of tapas. Penner tells CL that she’s currently working with a chef to narrow down the menu and is looking to also add some wine and beer pairing options for future guests.
