Downtown St. Pete’s popular haunt for local music, art and quirky drinks will say hello to April at 10 p.m. Wednesday with a gathering themed around five specialty whiskey cocktails.
The event, aptly titled “Whiskey Wednesday” and hosted by Bends bartenders Rickie Dixon and Jacob Carpentier, gives residents one hell of a reason to celebrate April Fools’ Day, as well as the bar’s medley of flavor explosions in a glass.
“For this series of whiskey cocktails we’ll be featuring Sazerac Rye, Buffalo Trace, Tullamore Dew, Jameson and Seagram’s 7,” Dixon said. “Each one was chosen to complement the varied flavors of our cocktail selection for the evening.”
Alongside the featured cocktails, including The Mango Lemonade and The Big Texan, distinct garnishes will be highlighted.
“We try to pick something that captures the pure essence of the cocktail. The simpler the better,” according to Dixon.
He said his favorite drink on the lineup is The Kentucky Tango with Sazerac Rye, mango juice, lime, brown sugar syrup and Tabasco, describing it as “sweet with a little bit of heat on the back end.”
The event will showcase tunes from DJ Jack Spatafora as well, followed by The Swans after party.
