On the Sauce: Boozy Hot Chocolate

Here's something to warm you to the core during these annoyingly cold nights. It's a beverage fit for your other half during Valentine's Day, or a weeknight "Netflix and chill" session: boozy hot chocolate.

We're using RumChata, whose creaminess, as well as cinnamon and vanilla notes, will complement the rich flavor of the hot chocolate. However, there are many ways to have fun and experiment with this recipe — Irish cream, Kahlúa, Kahlúa Mocha with peppermint vodka, whipped vodka and so on. Feel free to comment below with your favorite combination.

If you want to go super simple, though, grab some hot cocoa mix and take a shortcut to the promise land.

Boozy Hot Chocolate
Serves 2

2 cups of milk (whole or 2 percent preferred)
6 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
2 tablespoons sugar
Pinch of salt
2 shots RumChata
Whipped cream, for garnish

Let milk warm up in a saucepan over medium heat until steaming (do not boil!). Add dark chocolate and sugar, then add salt and stir until melted. Pour mixture into two cups for serving and add 1 shot of RumChata in each. Top with whipped cream and chocolate syrup drizzle, or dark chocolate shavings.

Note: If the drink is too rich, try adding a little hot water.
