Repeal Day, which commemorates the end of Prohibition, is on Monday, and I know just the way to celebrate.

Instead of making our own drink for the occasion, like we did with last year's Repeal Day Old Fashioned, we're spotlighting a cocktail chosen by Montelobos Mezcal Brand Ambassador Camille Austin. Austin will be among the bartenders pouring libations during Tampa's upcoming Repeal Day Gala, the huge Prohibition-era party that the Tampa Bay chapter of the United States Bartenders' Guild throws every year.

So let's talk Naked & Famous, one of three drinks she's set to feature.

According to Austin, who has attended the Gala in the past and says she's excited to see all the snazzy outfits, Montelobos is very approachable even for those new to the world of mezcal. Her spirit has 100-percent organic espadin agave, "which lends to a beautiful, herbaceous flavor profile."

"We slow roast the agave underground for around four to five days, giving just the right amount of smoke and firewood notes to the mezcal," the brand ambassador told CL. "It's truly a full circle of sensory experience."

Austin says she chose simple yet elegant cocktails like the Naked & Famous that could've been available at the time and don't take away from the drink's base booze.

The same is true for the other Gala cocktails she has planned. The Lone Wolf is Montelobos neat served with signature artisanal salts and tomatoes, while Poblano Divorce highlights Montelobos, Pedro Ximénez Sherry and Angostura bitters, plus extra kick and smokiness from Ancho Reyes, a liqueur made from dried and smoked ancho chiles.

Naked & Famous is easy enough to make at home with ingredients you might have handy, and others you may not.
