Ladies and gents, guess what? It’s National S’mores Day.

Now, on an average day, as an adult, would I make a trip to the grocery store to buy ingredients for s’mores? No. But it’s a national holiday, and I’d be unpatriotic if I didn’t. Besides, we’re making cocktails, which more than justifies my purchases.

For the drink’s base, we’ll need hot chocolate. And if you’re thinking, “it’s still summertime… I don’t want hot chocolate,” no worries. It’ll become iced hot chocolate. However, for those who come across this recipe in the cooler months and want to make it hot, you do you I won’t argue.

You can make this cocktail as easy, or as hard, as you like with store-bought powdered hot cocoa (as I did), or by going the fancy, double-boiler route, which has you melting down chocolate chips and using a coffee plunger or something. Other ways to make the drink snazzy? A splash of Irish cream or Kahlúa.

However you make it or whenever you sip it, this five-ingredient cocktail will take you back to your childhood and, dare I say, have you craving s’more.

S’mores Martini

Makes 1

4-5 ounces hot chocolate, cooled to room temperature

2 ounces Pinnacle Marshmallow Vodka

1 graham cracker, crumbled (for rim)

Chocolate syrup (for garnish and rim)

Mini marshmallows (for garnish)

Fill a martini glass with ice and set aside. Fill a metal cocktail shaker with ice, then add hot chocolate and marshmallow vodka. Shake until frosty to the touch. Discard ice from the glass. Drizzle chocolate syrup around the rim. Crumble graham cracker into a small dish and dip the chocolate-rimmed glass in the crumbles. Strain cocktail into the glass and top with mini marshmallows (and more chocolate syrup drizzle).
