Shaved ice, not snow cones.

You can now simultaneously cool off and fulfill your sweet tooth at the new Uptown Snoballs, which celebrated its grand opening on Feb. 7.

The New Orleans-style shaved ice spot is located at the old Cali Tacos parcel at 1003 4th St. N in St. Petersburg, and don’t get "snoballs" confused with snow cones. "Snoballs" are light and fluffy, not dense. Visitors can choose from more than 100 different house-made syrups and flavors to go on top of your shaved ice, or choose to add a scoop of ice cream for $1.

St. Pete’s newest frozen dessert eatery also offers gourmet popsicles, ice cream, sundaes and floats. And if you’re craving something that’s a little more than a dessert, opt for an "Uptown Snoball" wine popsicle, which is served in a glass of white or red sangria.

The brains behind Uptown Snoball’s made two speciality dessert options for Valentine’s Day last week, so keep up with Facebook and Instagram pages for more possible holiday specials.
