Initially slated for a fall opening, celebrity chef Jeffrey Jew and his team have decided to hold off on opening his first solo concept, Lingr on 6th St, until 2021 due to COVID-19.

“We are still monitoring the COVID situation in Florida and are trying to find a time that will be best," a Lingr representative wrote in an email to Creative Loafing Tampa Bay.

The forthcoming elevated restaurant serving up Nordic and Asian-inspired cuisine is stationed at 400 6th St. S. in St. Petersburg. Because the pandemic has made the world reevaluate the way we look at dining out, Lingr is installing new technology and incorporating safety measures for guests and staff prior to opening. Some new features include UV lights in the HVAC system, expanding outdoor dining area canopy, HEPA filtration systems in the indoor dining room and kitchen, cashless and contactless payments, as well as offering QR code and one-time use menus.

The projected grand opening is scheduled for January, so it won’t be too much longer until we get a taste of what the "Top Chef" competitor has cooking. More details to come as a nailed down opening date is announced.
