In July, Tampa’s very first indoor-outdoor dog park, Two Shepherds, hit the scene. And by early next year, dog owners can head across the bridge for Mutts and Martinis, a dog bar with a water park component for their pooches. But in September, Creative Loafing Tampa Bay caught wind of Pups Pub, yet another indoor-outdoor dog bar making its debut this year. Needless to say, dog lovers with a love for bars have some options.
Pups Pub is set to open its doors on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 2202 W. Kennedy Blvd. within the short-lived Old School Bar and Grill space.
The 21-and-up dog park, offers a full liquor bar for two-legged visitors, and a 3,700-square-foot space covered in turf for Fido to move about freely. Humans will also have access to 22 TVs inside and outside to watch catch sports games while their pups run freely.
The Pups Pub website says all dogs must have up-to-date vaccinations, must be non-aggressive, and all dogs over one year old must be spayed or neutered.
By the way, you don’t even need a pup to enter, which means you can get your fix of both pups and pours without picking up any poop. That’s a major win.
When it comes to memberships, owners can opt for a $10-day pass, $20 monthly or shell out even more bones for the entire year ($199). A monthly membership offers drink specials and a VIP entrance. The annual membership will get you added swag for pup and human.
According to its website, upon opening Pups Pub will be open 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Sun.-Thurs., 11 a.m.-midnight Fri. and Sat. Being that the dog bar is open late, this could prove to work as a solid first date location for dog owners. If the dogs click, it’s a go.
Until then, it might be a good idea and get your preregister Fido before the opening in mid-December.
