The upcoming Midtown Tampa development is expected to feature a ton of bells and whistles, like a food hall, an REI, a Whole Foods, a Shake Shack, and now a new rooftop bar.

On Tuesday, Concord Hospitality Enterprises Company announced the new rooftop watering hole, Sal Y Mar, will open at the top of the dual-branded Aloft and Element Hotel in January 2021.

Located at 3650 Midtown Dr., Sal Y Mar, inspired by the Riviera Maya town of Tulum, will have a casual and sophisticated vibe, according to a news release. It will offer an array of classic and elevated cocktails, as well as local craft beers and wine.

“As a new one-of-a-kind, neighborhood rooftop bar, I have no doubt Sal Y Mar will be one of our most popular spaces and will enhance the essence of Midtown Tampa,” said Evette Torres, the dual general manager for Aloft and Element Hotel.

The new lounge will also sell tapas, such as citrus crab cakes and carne asada street tacos and entrees like pan-seared grouper and chipotle-charred chicken.

Guests can expect indoor and outdoor seating amid Mayan-inspired decor, and a 360-degree view of the Bay area through floor-to-ceiling windows.

“We can’t wait to share our spectacular views and our passion for authentic Latin inspired cuisine and sensational cocktails with guests and the entire Midtown community. It’s going to be a truly fabulous space,” Torres said.

Sal Y Mar is actually the second new rooftop bar announcement in the past week. Ember Lounge, which sits on top of the Cambria Hotel in St. Petersburg at the Madeira Beach Marina, debuts Dec. 3.
