On Wednesday, Tampa Heights's native-inspired Ulele, open since late August, was dubbed a winner in OpenTable's Diners' Choice Awards, which determines the Top 100 Best Restaurants in America.

Although Ulele was the only Tampa victor, eight Florida restaurants from cities like Sarasota, Miami and St. Augustine were also awarded seats at the winners' table. New York had the most honorees.

According to a news release, diners' OpenTable feedback between Dec. 1, 2013, and Nov. 30 were used to determine the award winners. More than 5,000 million reviews were submitted for more than 20,000 U.S. restaurants.

This year's Diners' Choice Awards picks consisted of 35 returning winners, and 65 newbies.
