If you're fond of bellying up to hotel bars while traveling, or even on a normal night out, you won't want to miss the upcoming Repeal Day Gala. The annual celebration, part of the United States Bartenders' Guild Tampa Bay's multiday Repeal Day Conference, is set to recognize hotel bars of the 1930s.
Hosted inside Ybor City's Cuban Club at 9 p.m. Saturday, the gala encourages guests to don their finest period attire and sip complimentary craft cocktails while commemorating the end of Prohibition. This year's theme will have bartenders mixing drinks inspired by well-known bars The Ritz, La Floridita and The Savoy, as well as hidden gems.
Appetizers, a souvenir photo, live music and entertainment are included with general admission (these $150 tickets can be purchased online). But VIP ticket holders will receive a special performance and early access to the event's casino and specialty bar locations.
Quaffing for a cause since 2011, USBG Tampa Bay's Repeal Day Gala reaches 700-plus people every year and has raised more than $72,000 for charity. Its conference, kicking off Thursday, will benefit the USBG National Charity Foundation, Museum of the American Cocktail and Beat Nb.
