“As a mom, I loved visiting Peterbrooke shops to participate in chocolatier camps with my children or to buy gifts. I moved to Tampa Bay in 2013 and missed that quintessential Peterbrooke chocolate experience. When I learned that Peterbrooke wanted to develop in Tampa, I jumped at the chance to become an entrepreneurial small business owner and build our next step in life around the best chocolate I have ever eaten with my daughters by my side,” said owner Jennifer Hill in a previous statement.
This month, the family-owned and operated shop made its debut offering up decadent truffles, hand-made caramels, cherry cordial, chocolate covered cookies, pretzels, scratch-made marshmallows, potato chips and strawberries. Damn, that’s a cavity waiting to happen.
You can also grab gift baskets, caramel apple DIY kits as well as premade ones by the professionals.
Although the weather is beginning to cool down, it’s never quite cold enough in Tampa Bay to resist ice cream. Peterbrooke offers scoop and pints of rotating flavors like the classic chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla trio alongside more imaginative flavors like tiramisu, pistachio, Rhum raisin, and cookies n’ cream. For those who are dairy-free, the joint is also scooping up mango and lemon sorbet.
This weekend the chocolate shop is celebrating its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting featuring Mayor Jane Castor. From noon-5 p.m. on October 23 and 24, you can satisfy your sweet tooth while enjoying music, games, free samples and giveaways.
The premiere Florida-based confectioner was founded in 1983 in Jacksonville, and offers a wide selection of European-styled handmade chocolates through a distinctly American experience. Peterbrooke is known for its delights being hand-dipped daily with the brand’s own proprietary blend of milk, dark and white chocolate.
Hours for the shop are set for 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.
