Plots up for grabs at new Clearwater Community Gardens

For locals looking to put their green thumbs to use, the newly founded Clearwater Community Gardens at 1277 Grove St. is accepting membership requests and also has garden plots available for lease.

While a membership costs $25 annually, gardeners only need to pay a $35 plot fee for the first year. The 4-feet-by-8-feet plots are filled with a composted soil mix before they're leased out, and water is available at each gardening spot. Those who are interested may sign up online.

The Clearwater Garden Club and others secured the organic garden's space earlier this year to "connect people with their neighborhood for the purpose of growing healthy communities," according to a press release.
