Starting Thursday, Sept. 17, Tampa foodies will be able to dine in at Latin comfort food concept, Pollo Supremo.

The chicken-focused joint hosts its grand opening at 7616 W. Hillsborough Ave. from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. The restaurant has been offering up delivery since early August, but now diners will be able to get their plates hot off the grill.

The Pollo Supremo brand isn’t new to the game. The concept was founded in 1982 with a secret family chicken recipe, and has grown to five locations throughout New Jersey.

The Tampa address—and first Pollo Supremo in Florida location—has a revamped menu, with bowls (not found at the Jersey locations), sandos, wraps, soups and salads.

The famous Supremo chicken can be snagged by the quarter (white or dark meat), by the half or even whole bird. A Supremo eight-piece special consists of eight pieces of all dark meat with two large sides.

Want a break from poultry? Diners can opt for a 10-oz. sirloin steak, 12-oz. churrasco steak or a set of pork ribs.

When it comes to sides, options are aplenty: garden salad, Havana slaw, sweet potato mash, maduros (sweet fried plantains), chicharitas (fried plantain chips), fried yucca, tostones and much more.

Kids can even dive into the Supremo eats with cheese or chicken quesadillas, chicken bites or a miniature signature bowl with grilled marinated chicken served over rice and black beans.

If you want to attend the grand opening celebration, snag an ticket for $1.50.

“We have opted to use Eventbrite tickets to help measure attendance and abide by social distancing guidelines,” reads the Facebook event page.  “We want to make it easy for our guests to pick-up and carry-out a taster box, keeping you and our crew safe.”

Plus, 100% of the proceeds from Pollo Supremo’s taster boxes will be donated to Tampa Bay Harvest. The all-volunteer 501(c)(3) charitable organization functions as a food recovery and gleaning organization.

The restaurant is also donating an additional $1.50 per order to Tampa Bay Harvest for all purchases of $10 or more from Thursday, Sept. 17 through Sunday, Sept. 20. By the way, Tampa Bay Harvest can feed a family for one month per $10 donation, so make sure to bring some friends to get your grub on for a good cause.

Itching for a bite before the doors open? The Pollo Supremo menu is available through the concept’s website as well as Uber Eats, Grubhub, and Doordash. Just a heads up, if your first order is $20 or more, you get $5 off. That deal is valid through the end of the year.
