Next week, customers of Rollin' Oats Market & Café's St. Petersburg location can knock out their grocery lists without leaving the house. The local organic and natural foods store is set to launch the next phase of its expansion — online ordering — beginning Monday.
Only available in St. Pete during regular business hours to start, the new service allows shoppers (for a $4 convenience fee) to peruse more than 10,000 Rollin' Oats items and place an order for in-store pickup (and payment) by designating a time that best fits their schedules. Just create an account on the market's website and get to shopping.
There are two types of goods that aren't eligible for online ordering, however: booze and hot items.
"Customer service is always at the forefront of everything we do," said Mike Asher, chief operating officer, in a statement. "We have been working behind the scenes for months on our new online click and collect system that will expand that service online."
Unlike other web- and app-driven grocery shopping services out there, many of them offered through a third party, product prices won't increase for online customers and Rollin' Oats staff will fill any web orders that come in, keeping the operation under one roof.
The service also allows shoppers to create lists that can transfer over to their carts, plus view previous receipts and their most-purchased items in-store and online.
The plan is to grow the store's online ordering system even more.
"Ultimately, I hope this takes off and we can expand to our Tampa location as well as curbside pickup, UPS delivery, and eventually home delivery," Asher said. "It is our goal to deliver the same great Rollin' Oats service directly to our customers' doorstep."
