A new experiential, three-part dinner series, The Rooted Door, will hit Tampa's Sweetwater Organic Community Farm next month with farm-to-table fare inspired by the lives of Rooster & the Till chef Ferrell Alvarez and chef Don Pintabona of Locale Market.
The inaugural dinner, called "Stories from the Farm," will take place 7 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, May 15, and the second one will happen in fall.
Alyse Pask, creative director of The Rooted Door, said in a statement that the multisensory meals will whisk diners away "into another world filled with the most advanced cuisine imaginable."
"Guests can anticipate the chefs' culinary quests, inspirations, passions, and roots to Tampa and the culinary world brought to life," Pask said.
With four courses driven by their journeys from childhood to now, Pintabona and Alvarez's storytelling menu will speak to their food spots' emphasis on local products, as well as sustainability and responsible farming.
Before diners nosh al fresco among the greenery (and get in on the event's gourmet dessert station), though, small bites and craft cocktails will be served. Folks are welcome to pick their own fresh ingredients for the drinks, too.
Tickets for the interactive dinner cost a little less than $130 online in advance. Sweetwater's educational initiatives and The Rooted Door scholarship fund, which benefits Leto High School's Culinary Arts team, will receive proceeds from the ticket sales.
