San Antonio sees closure of Local Public House and Provisions

Owners Rebecca and Curtis Beebe have closed the doors of their "grown-up pub."

In San Antonio, a neighborhood gathering place known for its "grown-up pub" fare has abruptly closed.

Local Public House and Provisions was the last of Rebecca and Curtis Beebe's Pasco County dining destinations after the closure of their award-winning Pearl in the Grove and young Rebecca's at City Market was announced a couple months ago. But a Dec. 14 Facebook update from Local revealed that it, too, had permanently closed its doors.

At 32750 Pennsylvania Ave. across the street from City Hall, Local served up an impressive selection of Florida craft beer in addition to small bites, sandwiches and mains made with local ingredients. CL Food Critic Jon Palmer Claridge especially loved the relaxed farm-to-table pub's fried green tomato BLT.

"Well, we gave it our best shot. What we hoped was a light at the end of the tunnel, wasn't, so we are closing our doors immediately. Y'all have been great customers and we'll miss you. Our staff and vendors have been extraordinarily patient with us through multiple iterations and for that we offer our heartfelt gratitude and respect," reads the Facebook post from the Beebes. "Good Luck, Merry Christmas, and remember to eat and shop local!"
