Over the last couple of years, festive Tampa Bay locals have been frequenting St. Pete's Miracle at Mezzo Christmas-themed pop-up for all things holidays. From cocktails to decor, Intermezzo Coffee + Cocktails was the closest thing bar hoppers could get to a winter wonderland in Florida. But 2020 is actually giving us something to (holiday) cheer about now that Sonder Social Club in Dunedin is transforming into Santa's Social Club.
The immersive Santa and Christmas-themed bar opens on Black Friday, Nov. 27, and runs through Dec. 26. According to a release, for those designated weeks, Sonder Social Club (one of Creative Loafing Tampa Bay's Best Restaurants of 2020) will be nearly unrecognizable, covered in holiday decor and serving up new and whimsical cocktails and bites.
One of which is the Milk + Cookies cocktail made up of oat milk, Sonder Milk (milk infused with Golden Grahams), mellow corn whiskey, marzipan, chocolate, banana, pimento dram served in a homemade-to-order gooey chocolate chip cookie. Another newbie to the exclusive menu is the Ginger S.N.A.P (Santa’s Not-so Abominable Penicillin), comprised of Johnny Walker, Harleston green, lemon, honey, snake oil (lemongrass, clove syrup). The exclusive menu also offers a non-alcoholic option called All I Want For Christmas Is Juice with pineapple, pomegranate, vanilla and green tea.
Every weekend. the bar will have a theme like Bad Santa, ugly holiday sweater, and Christmahanakwanzika. Santa’s Social Club will also offer weekday events like Christmas movie trivia and drunken gingerbread house building. After a hell of a year, feel free to go all out with your gear and holiday cheer. We've nearly made it through 2020, people.
Since it's the season of giving, The Feinstein Group is accepting toy donations for Toys for Tots. If guests bring in a toy to donate, they’ll receive a special drink on the house. Who knew good karma could taste so good?
If you're thinking you might have one too many hits of Milk + Cookies, you might want to leave your sleigh at home and hitch a ride with Uber. Don't want to make it not the naughty list.
COVID-19 precautions include mandatory masks for both customers and employees, distanced seating, as well as outside seating for those who don't want to miss out on the fun but aren't quite ready to dine indoors.
